Step 1:  send in your deposit!  $400 to hold your space, pay the rest at minimum 1 month before the retreat begins.

Even if you're still on the fence, please fill in the following...

Step 2...get googling!
You'll want to arrive to Montezuma sometime on Saturday the 17th...in the evening we'll have our first meal together and a bit of orientation.  Sunday morning we'll have our first practice!   The following Saturday morning we'll have one more morning practice and a breakfast before check-out.  Feel free to stick around in Montezuma post-retreat to soak up all the effects, or explore all that Costa Rica has to offer!

Fly from your city of origin to SAN JOSE (airport code: SJO), the capital of Costa Rica.  Several carriers fly from major American cities directly to San Jose.   From San Jose you've got a few options to get to Montezuma...

The quick way:
From San Jose you take a 25 minute commuter flight to Tambor, where a shuttle will be waiting upon arrival and bring you the 20 km to the Hotel los Mangos in Montezuma. Montezuma is at the southern tip of the Nicoya peninsula on the Pacific Coast of Costa Rica.
The commuter flight costs around $65-85 each way.

You need to make arrangements with Sansa Airlines to take the commuter flight.  It can make sense to book your Sansa flight first and then book your flight into San Jose because you can usually control your US-to-Costa Rica flight times better than your Sansa flight times. Be sure to book your Sansa flight as soon as possible, as they can fill up quickly day-to-day.  The Sansa airstrip is right next to the San Jose airport, but please allow at least ONE HOUR between your flight into Costa Rica and your commuter flight to Tambor for you to clear customs.

The Budget Way:
Another option is to take the bus to Puntarenas. The bus leaves Monday thru Saturday from the Coca Cola bus station in San Jose at 7:30am and 3:30pm. It costs about ten dollars and the driver locks all luggage below the bus. The bus ride takes about two hours and goes along along the Panamerican road. Once you get to Puntarenas, you will need to purchase a ferry ticket. The ferry ride provides wonderful views of the Costa Rican coastline, and lasts about a half an hour.

The ferries provide air-conditioned passenger decks, snack shops, restrooms, and viewing areas. After you cross the gulf you arrive in Paquera, where you can re-board the bus and continue the journey to Cobano. In the city of Cobano all of the passengers that are going to Montezuma have to switch to a microbus which will take them the final 20-30 minutes to downtown Montezuma.  It's a bit of a mission(5-6 hours) but the fact that Montezuma is so difficult to reach is the main reason why it's retained its magic over the years.

The Middle Way:
For $45 you can book a door to door, shuttle-minivan with www.montezumaexpeditions.com .  They'll pick you up at the airport or hotel(stay in Alajuela for a stress-free evening in a small town near the San Jose Airport), drive you to the ferry, zing you over the sea, and minivan you all the way to your hotel in Montezuma.  Not as fast as the plane of course, but a bit easier than the big bus.

PLEASE NOTE: you will need a PASSPORT and proof of onward travel to enter Costa Rica!
